Production Notes
In early September 2021, Syrah was handpicked from Grist Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley AVA in Sonoma County then 50% was foot tread with 50% whole cluster remaining cold soaked. In mid September 2021, the wild red hybrid grapes were handpicked from the New Castle vineyard and co-fermented with the field blend of teinturier hybrid grapes from Davis vineyard in Davis, CA. After 50% whole cluster fermentation took off, the wine was pressed into neutral French oak barrels where it slumbered until March 2022.
Then it was put back to sleep until June 2022. No sulfur added.
